DEMIGOD
1st Year at Camp
Age: Fifteen
Daughter of Nike
Alliance: Undecided
Appearance:
Eye(s): Green
Hair: Blond
Height: 5’ 3’’
Build Type: Athletic
Brief Description:
The most eye catching attribute that Andi has is her hair. A firey red mess of curls, Andi hates her hair. It wasn’t until recently that she stopped wearing her hair in a ponytail that was almost always twisted up under a baseball hat. Maybe one of the reasons she hated her hair so much was because her father always said it came from her mother. Other than her hair, Andi is happy with her looks. They aren’t anything that jumps out and screams for attention. Her eyes are a greenish-grey, bordering hazel that take in everything quickly and smoothly. While she pales easily and has plenty of freckles to sprinkle on half a dozen people, Andi is actually pretty tan. She spends most of her time outside, playing sports. In the winter, however, she becomes ghostly white again in a few short weeks. She has an athletic build thanks to her father, the football/soccer/basketball/baseball/anything you can think of coach coach. As for style, Andi likes to look nice but be comfortable and practical. Like her hair, she just started to wear something other than basketball shorts and a cut-out t-shirts all day, every day. If she’s planning on running around all day, obviously she’s not going to wear a dress and heels but if she’s planning on going to the park and playing some ball, she’ll return to her shorts and t-shirts.
Background:
Mortal Parent(s):
Michael Kinnler – Dad
Samantha Hurst-Kinnler – Step-mom
Other Family:
Daniel Hurst – Step-brother
Brief History:
Michael was that kid in high school and college who was involved in every sport and all the scouts wanted. It was in college where he received an injury bad enough that the doctors told him he wouldn’t be able to play anymore. For a while, Michael sulked and refused to do anything. Then, one day, he realized he was being stupid for wasting his life and wanted to share the love of the game with children. Maybe that was what attracted Andi’s mother to him.
All his life, Michael wanted a little boy. A child he could play catch with. When Andi showed up on his doorstep, he was slightly upset but vowed her gender would not make him love her any less. Luckily for him, she ended up loving the sports just as much as any boy.
As long as Andi could remember, Samantha has been around. To her, Sam might as well have been her real mother. It wasn’t until Daniel, her older brother, told her, in a fit of rage, that Sam was not her real mother. Reduced to tears, Andi demanded Michael tell her the truth and he did. Well, the truth that he knew. To this day, Andi wonders if Michael knows the truth about Nike but she sure as heck isn’t going to be the one to tell him!
Maybe it was because Nike is a minor goddess, but Andi never had any trouble with monsters until she hit puberty. That was when they came after her. It was a Cyclops that eventually chased her away from home before she could tell her father anything. A satyr found her, wandering and nearly broken, and lead her to Camp Half-Blood. It was there she found out who her mom really was. Realizing it was too dangerous to return home, she’s decided to stay at camp and not call her father. In her mind, it’s better to be dead than to risk the lives of her family.
Personality:
Andi likes to think she’s a rather polite and quiet kid. She was raised to say please, thank you and yes ma’am, no sir. As a child, she was more outgoing than she is now. Ever since she found out the truth about monsters and the gods, not to mention wandering around all on her own for nearly a year, you could say she’s sobered up, possibly even bitter.
One way to get her to open up is to play on a team with her. After that, she’ll more than likely consider you a friend. Once you’re her friend, she’ll become more talkative and friendly. Even if you are a friend, she’ll hide her feelings and shy away from being brutally and bluntly honest. If she doesn’t like you, she’ll probably just stare and keep quiet.
Being involved in so many sports, it’s natural Andi’s going to be competitive. Thankfully, she’s not a sore loser. Her father, and possible being a child of Nike, taught her that it isn’t whether or not you win or lose, it’s how you play the game. Winning was only a bonus.
Once upon a time, she liked to lead the way. Now that she’s hopelessly lost in the world of demigods, it’ll take her a while to get back to the point she wants to take charge.

Describe the extent of your powers/abilities:
She can sometimes predict the outcome of many games or gambles. Increased, but not unbeatable, strength, speed, defense, endurance, agility, and reflexes. Maybe as she gets older, she’ll be able to predict the paths/weaknesses of attacks.
*Don't worry, I'll talk to whoever I'm playing with when it comes to her powers. She's still learning, so of course she's going to be wrong many, many times. :)
Fatal Flaw:
She sometimes thinks she’s invincible and can do anything by herself.
Please give a brief background on your minor god:
Nike, the goddess of victory in both war and peaceful competition, was Zeus’ charioteer in the first Titan war. Her mother, Styx, brought her and her siblings, Zelos (Rivalry), Kratos (Strength) and Bia (Force) into the service. Nike flew around the battlefield, awarding victories. She’s often depicted with wings, a wreath of victory, or a staff. Nike was a very close acquaintance of Athena, and is thought to have stood in Athena's outstretched hand in the statue of Athena located in the Parthenon. Some myths claim she was the daughter of Ares.
Theme Song:
American Honey by Lady Antebellum
She grew up on the side of the road
Where the church bells ring and strong love grows
She grew up good
She grew up slow
Like American honey
Steady as a preacher
Free as a weed
Couldn't wait to get going
But wasn't quite ready to leave
So innocent, pure and sweet
American honey
There's a wild, wild whisper
Blowing in the wind
Calling out my name like a long lost friend
Oh I miss those days as the years go by
Oh nothing's sweeter than summertime
And American honey
Get caught in the race
Of this crazy life
Trying to be everything can make you lose your mind
I just wanna go back in time
To American honey, yea
There's a wild, wild whisper
Blowing in the wind
Calling out my name like a long lost friend
Oh I miss those days as the years go by
Oh nothing's sweeter than summertime
And American honey
Gone for so long now
I gotta get back to her somehow
To American honey
Ooh There's a wild, wild whisper
Blowing in the wind
Calling out my name like a long lost friend
Oh I miss those days as the years go by
Oh nothing's sweeter than summertime
And American honey
And American honey

Role Playing Sample:
If this was a year ago, Andi would be at the beach with her family. She would be laying out, getting horribly burned, and dipping her toes into the chilly water. There might have even been a game of beach volleyball involved. Maybe for dinner, her father would grill hamburgers and go for a night run on the sand. Then, she and Sam would plan out the shopping trips for the next day before turning in for an early night. Just a normal vacation for a normal fifteen-year-old.
But no. Nothing was normal anymore. Andi was no longer just a lucky girl who could go on random vacations with her family. Now, there were monsters and Greek gods living in skyscrapers… To top it all off, Andi was a kid of one of these gods. No joke! Which one, she didn’t know yet. But it sort of explained the last couple of months, she guessed, with all the monsters attacking and trying to kill her. Tonight, she was suppose to find out who her parent was. In just a few minutes, probably. Andi wasn’t sure if she would blame the god for ruining her life or beg them to fix it.
People were crowded around her asking her questions that she wasn’t really in the mood to answer. Was she excited? No. Did she have any idea who her parent might be? Michael freakin’ Kinnler, that’s who. Oh, you mean a god? Probably someone cruel. Do you want to be on my team for capture the flag? Did they really decide that now?
“Winning isn’t everything,” she muttered, the words slipping out automatically before she could bite her tongue. It was something her dad had drilled into her head from an early age. “It’s how you play,” she finished, just for a good measure and to stay true to her father who she missed so much, it felt like someone had punched a hole in her chest. Once monsters stopped attacking, she’d head straight back home, running if she had to.
Andi took a deep breath, gazing at the mess hall. “Okay,” she said to herself or anyone who was listening. “Let’s do this.”
