Brief History: Background: Christopher Tanning was the school stud in his day. The typical, popular, handsome jock. All the girls swooned when they passed him in the hallway and he had a girl in his bed every Friday. What no one could’ve predicted was that Chris fell in love with the strange new girl in his sophomore year, Jennifer. For the first time in his life, Christopher Tanning was going steady with someone. Maybe it was her sweet, trusting gaze or her down-to-earth attitude, but he was hooked. They got married straight out of college. His parents died in a car accident that year. For a year and a half, they were the happiest couple and soon, Jennifer was pregnant with Kaera. But 6 months after Chris’ 19th birthday, he woke up one morning to find that his wife had disappeared and a note on her pillow telling him not to look for her. Christopher was left with 10 month old Kaera.
Instead of giving her up for adoption, Chris moved to India where he and Kaera began living with his 25 year old unmarried sister, Tanya who helped Chris bring up Kaera. Tanya ran a riding school in India and as a result Kaera grew up with a deep love of horses. On Kaera’s 14th birthday, Chris and Tanya gave her a young colt which she named Oreo. When Kaera was old enough, Chris did not hide the truth about her mother from her and together they waited for Jennifer to return. Nothing happened for 16 years until one day, when Kaera went to the stable to visit Oreo, she heard a deep growling sound. Kaera tensed, she knew that there were leopards in this part of the country and she suspected that one of them may have entered the stable. At that moment, she heard Oreo give a terrified whinney. That was too much for Kaera, who loved her horse more than anything. Yelling once for her father, she grabbed a pitchfork and raced into the stable. Upon entering she was stunned to see what seemed to be a humongous dog, with glowing red eyes and teeth like sabers. It was in fact a hellhound. The creature turned towards Kaera and quick as thought, leaped at her. Just in time Kaera thrust the pitchfork towards the monster wounding it fatally but not before it slashed her forearm, leaving a deep gash. Her father and Tanya raced into the stable in time to see the hellhound give a long howl and then disintegrating into dust. Kaera’s wound was deep and bleeding copiously and at that moment, as if she had never been away, Jennifer. Aka. Antheia walked into the stable. Ignoring the three pairs of stunned eyes on her, with a concerned look on her face, she bent down beside Kaera and passed her hand over the wound, leaving nothing but a scar. Then Antheia explained everything to the three and after finishing, she walked over to Christopher, kissed him once and then disappeared. Without further ado, Christopher and Kaera moved to America again and Kaera and Oreo were sent off to Camp Half-Blood.
Personality: Kaera knew what she wanted out of life until she found out that her absentee mother is a goddess, Antheia and hence, she is a demigod. She is by nature a calm and composed teenager and is good natured most of the time. Though not very outgoing, she has a competitive streak and has inherited the grounded character trait from her mother.
Since Kaera has grown up with horses most of her life, she adores horse riding and is extremely good at it. She can be found in the stable, any hour of the day or night, polishing a harness or stroking her horse, Oreo. She prefers the company of a horse rather than a human

Role Playing Sample: Kaera stood in the stable, stroking Oreo. The stable smelled of horse dung and straw: two of her most favourite smells in the world. Kara lifted her head from the wooden post beside Oreo’s stall and gazed at the black stallion. He was her only piece of home.
Although she had already completed a year at Camp Half-Blood, she still found it hard to reconcile herself with the fact that it was no longer safe for her out there. That there could be no more quiet afternoons spent with Tanya, her aunt and Dad on the front porch. That she could be attacked by monsters if she stepped out of the camp’s enchanted borders.
Sighing deeply, she fed Oreo a last sugar cube. As he crunched it up between his teeth a shrill, indignant whinney came from the stall next to his. A smile crept over Kaera’s face. It was Cupid, the Pegasus who lived next door to Oreo. Pegasi love sugar, and Cupid in particular, was crazy about it. Giving Cupid a ssgar lump, Kaera felt more cheerful. Yes, she missed her old life, but now, she knew that she couldn’t do without this one either. The strawberry fields, the Big House, the Archery range, her admittedly few, friends…she loved theem all too
