Background:
Mortal Parent: Malachi Kalehuawehe
Other Family: Two sisters, 30, from Malachi’s first wife who died during childbirth, Mika
Pets: None for Now
Brief History:
Leinani grew up on South Padre Island in the state of Texas, being born of Hawaiian decent she always felt she belonged on an island; she loved going out in the sun, running down the beach trying to walk on the crashing waves, climbing palm trees, and always getting into trouble; the trouble part happened more often than anything. Her father was an alcoholic, depressed, abusive man; he had no issue with hitting Nani just because she was crying too loud because she scraped their knee.
Malachi himself had a sorrow-filled past; he was an extremely handsome man at one time, he was strong, tan and had the kindest eyes, he married his high school sweetheart, the first and only true love of his life, Mika, but the young woman died during the birth of his first two daughters. The man struggled terribly with the burden of raising two infants while also trying to support the family on a mechanic’s salary. He worked hard but they never made it past just scraping by but he tried and the girls came out to be well rounded lovely individuals who loved their father and the happiness he brought them with all the hard work and dedication he put into their lives, then he met the most beautiful woman, she had eyes that made the ocean seem dull. He instantly was bewitched by her, he was lusting for her beauty, he felt it was love and he could not help but beg for her hand in marriage. She refused this, but he persisted. One beautiful island morning, the woman he had believed he had fallen deeply in love with, came to his door barring an infant, she claimed it was his child and that she was going to have to have him raise it for she could not. This angered and hurt Malachi deeply; she refused to be his wife but had no issue with giving him another mouth to feed in his older age. He took the child but from that moment on he was a changed man, his eyes turned dull from the constant alcohol abuse, he stopped working and let the auto shop go under, leaving the family moving from apartment to apartment, he would pick up odd jobs here and there then go spend the money on booze. He became heartless to his children, then abusive, he saw them as burdens, they are what kept him from achieving the greatness he once saw in himself.
Nani feared her father, when she was young she would hide in the room with her sisters when he was on one of his binges, the older girls loved their little sister; they raised her and treated her with kindness and love. But the minute they turned eighteen they left poor Nani alone promising that they would come and get her one day, they would save her… They lied. At least in Nani’s eyes they did, she never knew that her sisters tried but her father kept a chokehold grip on the legal system, he may have hated his daughter, but she was the only reason he was getting welfare, he was not going to give up his little meal ticket. For the next nine years Nani live in a constant state of fear, she learned how to fight off her father by watching different martial arts and fighting classes through windows and free trials, the man was stronger but after the first time his daughter took him down he refused to touch her, it only brought more hate into his heart for his own flesh and blood.
Then when Nani had just turn thirteen, during one of his worst nights ever, Malachi got the kohnes to try and beat his daughter again, when he took his first swing at her, she grabbed his arm to take him into an armbar when he started to scream out in pain, Nani felt a rush of anger and emotions overcome her, she saw images of her father from his younger years, she saw her mother, she saw everything, she held on tightly, she was feeling all the emotions he had felt, it made her heart thud inside her chest, then it went black.
Nani woke up from her coma three weeks later, she was in a bed she was unfamiliar with, she looked around seeing that she was in some type of clinic, confused she got up and started to walk around searching for someone to explain, luckily she did not half to look far, a man, well a half horse-half man came up to her and started talking about how she was the daughter of some goddess of soul music or something like that and how she had almost killed her father so she was pulled from her home and brought to some camp to keep her safe and teach her how to use some powers she had; it was all just a cluster of lunacy, Nani convinced herself this was just another one of her crazy dreams. That was until she looked at her hands, there were tight leather gloves up her arms that were laced with ribbon, she touched them, they were real this was a reality. Nani had almost taken her own father’s life, and now she finds out that her mother had been watching all the pain and suffering she had gone through, never once coming to save her. She would not understand until years later that like Psyche who was the goddess of the soul, not soul music, was her mother and that she was meant to go through dark trials and tribulations to find her true place in life; nor that her father’s constant movement and filthy habits were actually keeping her safe from any harm.
Now at age sixteen, Nani has no idea what has happened to her father and sisters, she honestly misses her sisters but after not seeing them for fourteen years they are but shadows and blurred faces that fill her favorite past memories. She is pretty sure at this point she has nieces and nephews that she will never meet, nor will she ever see her sisters again, she feels like they believe that their father killed her or something even worse happened. Her father, after seeing how he handled his problems she learned how to deal with her own issues. She shies away from human contact but she will never be that kind of person who wallows in their own self pity.
Personality:
Nani is a sweet girl, she is just deeply afraid of hurting anyone, as well as afraid of being hurt herself. She loves to meet new people and would be a social butterfly, yet with her powers she fears that if she ever fully lets loose she is going to lose everything and hurt someone she cares about deeply. She enjoys finding love for others, just because she feels she cannot do it for herself. She tends to slink back into the shadows when she feels unwanted and is easily hurt. She is in no way dominant, but she can be feisty if the occasion arrives, she loves to be somewhat of a jokester just because being a cut up is a defense mechanism, being the class clown saves her from her own serious thoughts about the future and how she feels she will never be able to do anything normally, she will always be the girl who wears gloves all the time and shies away from any physical contact. The future frightens her, so for now she lives in the moment and never fully thinks about what is to come next.

Describe the extent of your powers/abilities:
Nani has no real control of her power; she has the ability with skin to skin contact to share someone's powers for the duration of that contact. This hurts her greatly; as well as weakens the powers themselves due to they are being shared between her and whomever she is touching. It also harms the person she is grabbing, causing them to weaken physically, sometimes to the point of unconsciousness. She also winds up borrowing parts of the psyche; memories, personality traits, talents, knowledge, and some physical abilities of anyone she comes in contact; the physical and godly powers are only able to be used during the time the skin is touching skin. The memories, personality traits, knowledge, and talents fade over a time period that is proportional to the length of time that she had contact with the person. The longer she holds on, the longer they stay, but they do eventually go away, sometimes if they were great enough they leave imprints or echoes of themselves that pop up uncontrollably. When it comes to controlling the powers she borrows, she is just able to use them as well as anyone with completely new powers, basically saying she handles them like a one year old handles a spoon, not too well. Also because her body is not designed to use the powers, she becomes physically sick every time she uses because her body is fighting the powers and vice versa. She does not use her powers often due to the fear of her own demise or of the demise of others. She is frightened of human contact, she would love to feel a kiss or hold someone's bare hand, but since she hit puberty this has not been an option.
Fatal Flaw:
Inability to follow directions given; She prefers to go her own way even if logically she knows it is wrong.
Please give a brief background on your minor god**Minor Gods Only**:
The goddess Psyche started out as a mortal, but one of exquisite grace and beauty. Fervently courted by numerous mortal men and gods, Psyche truly wasn't interested in romance and she wasn't just playing hard to get! This offended Aphrodite, the goddess of love, who decided to bring Psyche down a notch by sending her son Eros, the god of love, to shoot her with one of his magical arrows tipped in an aphrodisiac that would make her fall hopelessly in love with the first man she saw, no matter how wretched, unsuitable, or unappealing he might be.[/size]
But as the Fates (the Greek goddesses responsible for luck and destiny) would have it, just as Eros had Psyche lined up in his sights, Eros stumbled and accidentally pricked himself with the arrow and fell madly in love with Psyche himself.
Reluctant to face mama with the news of what had happened, Eros whisked Psyche off to his palatial hideaway in the mountains for a quick wedding and lengthy honeymoon.
Afraid that he might be recognized and word of his bumbling might get back to Aphrodite, Eros visited Psyche only after dark and made her swear she would never look at him. She was beginning to love him deeply and growing more curious each day about her beloved's features. Psyche decided to take just a quick peek while he lay sleeping, but a drop of hot oil from her lamp accidentally spilled on his shoulder, waking him . . . but not before she saw that he was more beautiful than any many she'd ever imagined.
Psyche missed him enormously. Abandoned and bereft, she decided to go to go and humble herself before Aphrodite, begging for her blessing on the marriage and for the return of her husband. Aphrodite, however, saw this as her opportunity to take her revenge. She demanded that Psyche complete four tasks, each of them more frightening and difficult than the previous, if she were to prove herself worthy of marriage to her son.
First, Psyche was to spend the night in a room filled with assorted grains and to have them all sorted and bagged by daybreak. Realizing the enormity of the task, Psyche huddled in the corner weeping, when an army of ants took pity on her and came to her aid, getting the job done for her well in advance of the deadline.
Next Psyche was ordered to bring back the Golden Fleece belonging to a fearsome ram that had already killed several heroes who had tried to acquire his fleece. Terrified that she too would be crushed, Psyche took the advice of a nearby reed that whispered to her to wait until nightfall when the ram slept before entering the field and to gather the fleece that had fallen off the ram and clung to the branches of the blackthorn trees.
For her third task, Aphrodite gave Psyche a crystal jar and demanded she return with water taken from a waterfall positioned on a high cliff on the River Styx, the entrance to the underworld. In the depths of despair when she arrived and saw the tremendous danger involved, Psyche was amazed when an eagle, circling above her, swept down for the jar and flew off to the waterfall to fill it for her.
The future goddess Psyche's last and most frightening challenge was to descend into the underworld, the kingdom of the dead, and to return with a box of sleeping potion from Persephone, the Queen of the Underworld, all the while ignoring the pleas for help from all the unfortunate that she encountered. This task was her longest and hardest: she succeeded, but Psyche was so exhausted by the effort that she took some of the potion for herself. Finding Psyche in a deep sleep and unable to rouse her, Eros rubbed the potion from her eyes and returned it to the box which he sent on to his mother.
Deciding, finally, that he'd had quite enough of his mother's meddling in his affairs, and that he truly loved Psyche, he humbled himself and sought expert advice to save their marriage. He flew to Zeus, who upon Athena's advice, made Psyche immortal (a Greek goddess in her own right). Their marriage, legitimized by the king of the gods, was now restored. Even Aphrodite had to admit they made a fine couple and gave them her blessing.
The myths of the Greek goddess Psyche exemplify a woman's search for authentic personal growth, a reminder that the integration of our experiences, however sad or frightening they may be, matures and transforms us, like the symbol of the butterfly emerging into the light from its dark cocoon. From: Goddess Gift

Lyrics
Nice legs, Daisy dukes,
Makes a man go whoo-whoo
That's the way they all come through
Like whoo-whoo whoo-whoo
Low-cut, see-through shirts That make you whoo-whoo
That's the way she come through
Like whoo-whoo whoo-whoo
(Cause I) Just set them up Just set them up
Just set them up
To knock them down
(Cause I) Just set them up Just set them up
Just set them up
To knock them down
I think I should know how
To make love to something innocent
Without leaving my fingerprints out, now
L-O-V-E's just another word
I'll never learn to pronounce
How do I say I'm sorry
'Cause the word is
Never gonna come out no
L-O-V-E's just another word
I'll never learn to pronounce
Tight jeans, Double D's Makin' me go whoo-whoo
All the people on the street Know [whoo-whoo-whoo-whoo]
Iced-out, lit-up
Make the kids go whoo-whoo
All the people on the street Know whoo-whoo whoo-whoo
(Cause I) Just set them up Just set them up
Just set them up
To knock them down
(Cause I) Just set them up Just set them up
Just set them up
To knock them down
I think I should know how
To make love to something innocent
Without leaving my fingerprints out now
L-O-V-E's just another word I'll never learn to pronounce
How do I say I'm sorry
'Cause the word is
Never gonna come out no
L-O-V-E's just another word I never learned to pronounce
Push it baby
Push it baby out of control
I got my gun cocked tight And I'm ready to blow
Push it baby
Push it baby out of control This is the same old dance That you already know (x2)
I think I should know how
To make love to something innocent
Without leaving my fingerprints out no
L-O-V-E's just another word
I'll never learn to pronounce
