DEMIGOD
2nd Year at Camp
Age: 15
Daughter of Hermes
Alliance: Neutral
Appearance:
Eye(s): Hazel, though dominantly green
Hair: Brunette
Height: 5'4"
Build Type: Petite and athletic, compact
Brief Description: Bryn isn't the kind of girl who gets spared a second glance. She's average and unassuming at a glance, blending into a crowd. She has pale skin, which contrasts sharply against her dark hair. The dark tresses end past her shoulders in gentle waves, usually unkempt and left to do whatever it wants. She is tiny, to say the least. Due to her athletic prowess, Bryn is pretty muscular, mostly in her legs. This build adds thickness to her frame, even though she is pretty slim. If any feature stood out the most, it'd be Bryn's eyes. The dark green orbs sparkle mischievously at all points in the day, lighting up her face.
As far as personal style goes, Bryn leans more towards a retro chic, looking like she stepped out of the 50s. High-waisted skirts and shorts litter her closet, coupled with things like knit cardigans and polka dot tee shirts. Flip-flops or flats usually adorn her small feet. When causing mischief or training, Bryn goes for a more lighter style, choosing comfort over look.
Background:
Mortal Parent(s): Cecilia Young
Other Family: Arthur Young, step-father
Pets: N/A
Brief History: The Young family had never wanted children... well, at least the father didn't. So, when Cecilia Young found herself with a pregnancy test showing that awful pink plus sign, her husband, Arthur, was a little confused. The couple had never planned on children or even tried to conceive a child. To quell his doubt and confusion, Arthur blamed faulty birth control and hesitantly welcomed the coming change in his entire life. The truth behind the matter? Cecilia had cheated - multiple times. With who? Hermes. Yeah, as in the god Hermes. Of course, she had no idea that's who it was. That's what makes this so much fun!
Her life was fairly normal for the first couple of years. Bryn was eight when the monsters started appearing. They never wanted to hurt her, but she saw them. That's enough to terrify any eight year old girl. She expressed these sights to her parents. Arthur simply waved it off, but Cecilia knew better. She could tell something was wrong. However, the family ignored it, as with everything else. It wasn't until Bryn started waking up in places different from where she fell asleep that they couldn't ignore it any more. She'd drop in her bed, only to awake in the neighbor's yard. Her little travel distances only grew larger, ending when she ended up waking up in a town over from Ann Arbor. At the same time, the monsters only appeared more and more, making Bryn scared to even walk through town on her own.
Several years passed by since her first monster sighting, which was something Bryn had learned to live with. She was thoroughly convinced it was just her imagination running away from her. The young teen had begun to do well in school, something she never had done before. Things were going pretty well, up until her thirteenth birthday. It was a cold day in February and Bryn had decided to invite her friends over to ice skate on a local pond. They were all
Now, Bryn had seen large dogs before. They were common. The creature that emerged from the pine trees wasn't just a huge dog - it was a monstrosity. It was a hellhound, and it was staring right at Bryn. It took her a second to react as the hound lunged towards her, completely ignoring her fellow party-goers. Unfortunately, a girl can only run so fast in ice skates. Awkwardly shuffling off the ice, Bryn still managed to evade the beast. As soon as her blades hit solid ground, Bryn had kicked off the blasted things, running barefoot through the wood and snow. She ran for what seemed like forever, only slowing down when the sound of music hit her ears. Still running, Bryn felt the ground start to move as the roots of the surrounding pine trees broke through the frozen ground. They wrapped around the hellhound, toppling the monster forward. Finally, Bryn stopped. A satyr emerged from behind a tree, quickly explaining everything to Bryn. The young girl simply stared, unsure of what was reality or if she was just dreaming. After a trip back to her home, telling everyone at her party to leave, and explaining everything to her parents, Bryn was on her way to Camp Half-Blood.
Bryn has been at camp ever since, staying year round as her parents try to deal with the fact that her mother cheated. She quickly found her niche, stealing a few things before being claimed by Hermes. If you ask Bryn, she'd say she loves staying at camp. It's way more entertaining than Michigan.
Personality: The one thing you need to know about Bryn is that she does not care. seriously, she couldn't care less about the people think about her, what is going on in the world, or how your weekend was. As far as she's concerned, if it doesn't concern her siblings, friends, or pranks, then it shouldn't even exist. Yeah, her devil-may-care mentality is a bit harsh and insanely pragmatic, but at least she's honest about it. She is blunt and rude, almost to the point of being painfully endearing. She gets her entertain through breaking rules and living life, things that come naturally to her. To her, the important thing is that she's living life.
Despite her tough exterior, Bryn is quite harmless once you get to know her. She likes to laugh and have fun, even if her idea of fun is dangerous and maybe involves something completely illegal. She is actually a pretty great friend to the few people who can get through to her. She's protective and a bit maternal. Seriously, you don' know mess with her friends. If you do, she'll fill your gas tank with sugar or steal all your pants while you're not looking. The only things she has passion for, besides mischief are the ones she loves. Once you're in her circle of friends there's no getting out.
She's stubborn and competitive, something that comes with her athletic side. She's great with team situations, as long as she's the leader. Bryn doesn't take to authority very well, which leads to a lot of arguments and petty fights. She has too much pride to ever admit she's wrong. As far as she's concerned, she's always right.

Describe the extent of your powers/abilities: Bryn has the basic Hermes kid package, with the stealth and athleticism. She can teleport, though she doesn't have much control over it. It often happens when she panics, even if she doesn't mean to.
Fatal Flaw: Pride - Bryn cannot concede to someone else. She doesn't know how to ask for help, because she can't stand looking weak or being second-best.
Theme Song: Crazy Mary by FM Static.
Maybe if, I took a little time to talk,
Then she'd Heal a little if she wants to,
She can run, but let's teach her how to walk away now
I'll, shake a little if she wants to,
She'll, laugh a little if she needs to
There's a key to the door that she's hiding behind
She watches the world pass her by like a freight train
And they all call her the same names,
Laughing as they point and stare at her
So she cries, out to God up in heaven,
Been praying since she was eleven
For Him to send someone to meet her there

God, Alaska hated him right now. with his stupid little, shit-eating grin and obviously overactive pituitary gland; Alaska loathed every bit of it. Who on earth was he to just ignore her? After all the summers they went through together! She played with that boy on the merry-go-round, rode bikes with him, all that crap. Alaska would be more than willing to go swimming with him every summer morning, no matter how cold. She even pushed that little bastard on the tire swing, and what does she get in return?! Dddly squat. Three summers was obviously too long to keep a friendship over. Did he think he was too cool for her now? Psh. Well, he wasn't. Just because he looked like he was twenty-five didn't mean he was too cool. Her older brother, Indiana, had facial hair -- frickin' facial hair. Alaska was cool enough to hang with a man with a beard, but not somebody who still had a babyface? No. That's not how life works. That don't fly with Aly. So, being the reasonable person she is, Alaska called him. When his father answered the first time, Aly was perfectly content with the fact that he 'wasn't home'. A few hours later and another call, Alaska wasn't surprised to get the same answer from his father. She called their mutual friends - he wasn't with them. Alaska was still just peachy. It wasn't until twelve phone calls and twenty-four hours later that Alaska became even a tiny bit irked. A whole week and a plethora of calls later, Alaska was livid. This kid was going to get it.
Who was this kid, exactly? Jacob ephraim Black. son of Billy Black and the biggest backstabber ever -- well, at least in Alaska's mind. They had been friends when Aly was younger, but give it a few years and everything's changed. He should have known she was coming back to La Push for the summer. Why had he been so shocked when he laid eyes on her, then? The question haunted Aly for that past week, along with a dozen more that formed every day. She had seen nothing of him in that span of time, nor heard even a mention of his name. Her parents just said he must've been busy, but Alaska knew it was a lie. He was avoiding her; avoiding her calls, avoiding her being, washing his hands of anything that had to do with her. This much, she knew. Why, though? The unanswered question was eating away at the poor, confused teen. Had it been something she said? Was she dressed wrong? For god's sake, did she even have food in between her teeth? The possibilities were endless when it came to someone like Alaska. The very thoughts made her want to stick her head in the ground like an ostrich. This could have happened with anybody else in La Push, just not Jacob.
Despite her parents wishes, Aly didn't just forget it, which made her a very moody girl. This was a major pain for said parents, as the petty fights escalated to a new high. You can only deal with a girl who's out for blood for so long. So, her mother bought her a little running outfit, thinking it would get Alaska out of the house. It probably would've worked, had the whole outfit not been pink. Alaska swallowed her pride and put it on, though, just to make her darling mother happy. Leaving her aunt's house, Alaska turned on her iPod Nano and just began to run.
She started just going down the side of the road, completely oblivious to the passing cars and just in her own little world. Alaska's mind wandered back to Neah Bay, where she could have been running along side her fellow soccer team mates for conditioning. Jacob Black would've been the farthest thing from her mind. Unfortunately, though, he kept rearing hisglorious ugly head. It honestly made her want to cry. Truth be told, Aly had developed a thing for the Quileute boy in their youth, and never fully let it all go. She had told herself that she'd overcome it that summer, but it was harder when the boy in question ignored you; then, it was damn near impossible.
Bringing her focus back to her surroundings, Alaska started to remember where she was -- dangerously close to the Black household. All she had to was veer off to the left. That's all she had to do; confront her demon and give him a piece of her mind. Deep down, though, Alaska knew she should just leave it be. Running a bit farther, Aly turned into the woods, finding her own path amongst the tress. Her parents always warned her about straying off the paths, but at that moment, Aly could've cared less. All she cared about was running.
The tears of frustration she refused to let fall only fueled her legs. They were cold and bare, but Alaska didn't care. Her calves would ache. She'd block it out. Her knee would pop. She wouldn't even flinch. As far as she was concerned, running was her prize, was her purpose; her love. Jacob? Jacob who?
