DEMIGOD
8th Year at Camp
Age: 16
Son of Athena
Appearance:
Eye(s): dark gray
Hair: Black

Brief Description: He currently looks a bit older than his above picture (one or two years). Barret likes to dress colorfully and can usually be spotted with denim on his legs, a flannel on his back and a watch and a least one wristband on. He pays acute attention to his shoes and has a variety of colorful Nikes and Vans, but will usually be seen in Chuck Taylors when he's just walking around.
Background:
Mortal Parent(s): Lionel E. Sharp
Other Family:
Pets:
Brief History: Barret is his father's only son, and that is something he is very glad of. It's not that Barret wouldn't have enjoyed the company, it's just that he wouldn't want anyone else to have to deal with being abandoned by the man. When Barret was 8, his father left him at a bus stop in Saint Louis with $3.35, the clothes on his back, a map of upstate New York and the wise words "You'll figure something out."
Harshly circled on the map in red was the general location of Camp Half-Blood, Barret's future home. Eight year old Barret didn't know that. All he knew was that he was on his own now, and that it was even worse than when he was bumming around with Lionel, because at least Lionel watched his back for the monsters. Barret would never call Lionel "dad", he didn't see him as one, and Lionel had liked that just fine.
Barret had traveled before and knew how to take the bus on his own. Traveling, in fact, was what he had been doing for most of his life. He and Lionel always moved from motel to apartment, city to city, while Lionel always found a way to make money. Usually it was legal. When whatever job Lionel had taken had dried up or he got bored with it, he moved on and dragged Barret along with him.
How exactly Lionel managed to meet his mom and how Barret came about was never actually revealed to him, but it was sometime before Lionel dropped out of college Barret always knew that much. He also knew whoever she was, she didn't care about him. "You got a problem with where you're sleeping kid? Oh well. Go live with your mom then" Lionel would say, knowing very well Barret had never even met the woman "she's loaded." Barret never said anything but sometimes Lionel would catch the wishful look in his offspring's eyes and go on " Don't hold your breath. She gave you up, remember? Left me the pleasure..."
Barret didn't hold his breath at all. He never wished or hoped or waited for his mother, and he never more than tolerated the presence of his father. When the day came that Lionel's weak will broke and he finally gave up on even sheltering the boy Barret wasn't even slightly surprised. In fact he was prepared, excited even. It was a long bus ride.
Eventually Barret made his way to the red circle on the map. Camp Half-Blood took him in sheltered him, raised him and clothed him, making it very much the only home he's ever known. He still doesn't trust it any more than the paper motels that blew through the wind when he was a kid, he's still waiting for it to be time to leave again and is as comfortable in his own bed as a stranger.
Even being claimed by his mother as soon as he arrived at camp didn't change Barret's feelings. He's often obtained the recognition of Athena for his skills or gained her open favor on the various (inconsequential) quests he's carried out (usually to retrieve some unimportant magical item from an equally unimportant monster). Despite gaining a level of recognition from his mother many of his siblings would kill for, Barret regards Athena rather coolly, citing her 8 years of absence and abandonment as the only mothering he ever needed from her.

Describe the extent of your powers/abilities:
Photographic memory: More of total event recall. If he knows he needs to remember something he will never forget it or anything related, even telling you what shoes you were wearing and how many steps you took from one end of the room to the other and what he had for breakfast on that day.
Minerva's Mind: He has the brilliant tactical capabilities of most children of Athena.
Barret like most demigods had a natural penchant for combat with ancient weapons, but has a particular leaning towards pole-arms and spear like weapons, and is noted for his tactic of lassoing an enemy using rope or a whip in his left hand while skewering them with the halberd or javelin in his right. If you draw any comparison between his skill with spears and his mothers weapon of choice he'll tell you he has no idea what you're talking about through narrow eyes.
Fatal Flaw: Despite what Barret himself would believe, his flaw is not his habit of taking dangerous risks. In fact that (while obviously dangerous) is what often puts him a step ahead of the enemy. Barret's fatal flaw stems from feeling abandoned by both his mortal and godly parent. Barret can remain cool and collected until he feels he's been abandoned by others, and then he becomes inconsolable. He's too reliant on the acceptance of others and his flaw comes from the the fact that those dangerous risks he's sometimes ready to take are simply to gain recognition and approval which he badly craves, without realizing it.

Ji Taro hummed as he mad his way up the ramp onto the massive airship that had touched down in just outside the Bulwark encampment. He was a tad bit reluctant to board it. He hadn't been to the Si Wong in many years, and the last time he had been, he'd learned his wife and the entire tribe that had accepted him had died. He hadn't planned on ever returning, but his pupil, Mai, had requested he come with her. Apparently she had made a promise to a dieing man, and this trip to the Si Wong was part of that promise. In addition, the man who's airship this was also had reason to go to the Si Wong, for some expedition or the like, and needed Mai's map.
From what Mai told him, this man, this Jackal character, was shady, and not to be trusted. Ji knew his type, and having lived in the Si Wong for several years himself decided to go with Mai, telling her that it was so she could continue his training under him, but really it was because he was worried about her safety in dealing with such people as this Jackal character.
